YCSS DSA: Engineering Innovation and Solutions
Overview
Yuan Ching Secondary offers the Direct School Admission area of ‘Engineering Innovations and Solutions. We welcome Primary 6 students with interest in engineering and technology to apply for Direct School Admission.

Successful applicants would be enrolled directly into our R.E.A.P Club that builds on the school’s Applied Learning Programme in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics . As members of the R.E.A.P Club, students are provided with enriched learning experiences, mentorship, and hands-on opportunities to nurture their passion for engineering and innovation.

Through the development opportunities provided, students admitted through DSA would build strong technical knowledge, perseverance and creativity, laying the foundations for you to pursue engineering and related fields in post-secondary institutions.
This early commitment helps students build confidence, resilience, and technical expertise, laying the groundwork for future STEM-related studies and careers.
At every stage — whether exploring how a boat floats, building a drone from scratch, or programming an autonomous robot — our ALP provides a safe space for students to experiment, take risks, and grow.
Criteria
We are looking for students who exhibit the following:

Very Good conduct

Demonstrates keen interest in STEM/ Robotics

Demonstrates aptitude of analytical and logical thinking

(Optional) Represented school in Science/ Mathematics/ Robotics/ Computing-related competitions
Please also take note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.
Applicants who do not have prior experience may also apply. The school will assess applicants based on the selection criteria, which may include assessing the potential of the applicants.
Application Procedure & Timeline
Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 7 May 2025, 11am to 3 June 2025, 3pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – http://www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec .
Students currently not studying in MOE schools (i.e. non-mainstream school candidates and Returning Singaporeans) are required to apply for a Registration Number before they can apply through the DSA-Sec Portal. Details can be found at: https://go.gov.sg/nmsdsa-sec-application.
All international students are to take part in and fulfil the requirements of the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) before they can be considered for admission to secondary school via DSA-Sec.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1-4.
You will receive notification from the school by 11 July 2025, if your child has been shortlisted to undergo Direct School Admission (DSA) selection. All applicants will receive their application outcomes between 25 Aug and 4 Sep 2025.
