Direct School Admission (DSA): STEM - Robotics

1. Background
Introduced in 2004, the Direct School Admission (DSA) scheme provides students with the opportunity to seek admission to a secondary school, based on a diverse range of specific academic and non-academic achievements and talents that they can demonstrate beyond the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). For 2020, Yuan Ching Secondary School will offer Secondary One places to aspiring students with the strong desire to be developed under one of our distinctive programmes - Applied Learning Programme (ALP). Our ALP is in the category of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), focusing on Marine Robotics. More information on our ALP can be found through the following link:

2. Criteria

We are looking for students who exhibit the following:

  • Very Good conduct 

  • Demonstrates keen interest in STEM/ Robotics

  • Demonstrates knowledge of coding

  • Represented school in Science/ Mathematics/ Robotics/ Computing-related competitions

 

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent. 


3. Application Process & Timeline

Application for the DSA-Sec is to be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal, from 12 May to 5 Jun 2020. Below are some of the key dates for the DSA application process.

15 Sep 2020 - 17 Sep 2020     Notification period for outcome of Interview  and Selection Activity

*Interview will be conducted over video conferencing. The schools will contact shortlisted applicants to provide more information on the interview.

Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 12 May to 5 Jun 2020. For more details, please refer to MOE website - DSA-Sec
