Department Overview
The YCSS Mathematics Department is committed to create joyful and authentic learning experiences for our students. We aim to nurture our students into passionate learners and creative problem solvers of Mathematics.
Our Classroom Learning Experiences
Our teachers creates hands-on experiences during lessons to help students in understanding the concepts better.
Enrichment and Talent Development Programmes
(a) Sec 1 Math Trail (in-house)
The Sec 1 Math Trail is an in-house programme in which students are engaged in fun and exciting Math games.
(b) Sec 3 Mathematical Modelling
In the Sec 3 Mathematical Modelling Programme, students are tasked to work on a real world problem and propose the possible solutions. AN example of the task is to estimate the total amount of food waste produced in Singapore over the next decade.
(c) Sec 1 Data Collection and Research Project
The Sec 1 Data Collection and Research Project provides the students an opportunity to learn data collection, analytic and research skills with different scenario tasks. An example of the task is to estimate the total number of hours spent by schoolmates on social media platforms in a week.
(d) Talent Development Programme
Our Talent Development Programme provides a range of activities such as trainings, competitions and lectures for our higher ability students.
(i) Data Analytic and Python Trainings
(ii) Australian Math Competition
(iii) All SG Sec Math Competition for Normal Course
(iv) Lectures by Science Centres.
