Direct School Admission (DSA): STEM - Robotics
1. Background
Introduced in 2004, the Direct School Admission (DSA) scheme provides students with the opportunity to seek admission to a secondary school, based on a diverse range of specific and non-academic achievements and talents that they can demonstrate beyond the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).
For 2024, Yuan Ching Secondary School will offer Secondary One places to aspiring students with the strong desire to be developed under one of our distinctive programmes - Applied Learning Programme (ALP). Our ALP is in the category of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Stem), focusing on Marine Robotics.

2. Criteria
We are looking for students who exhibit the following:
- Very Good conduct
- Demonstrates keen interest in STEM/ Robotics
- Demonstrates knowledge of coding
- Represented school in Science/ Mathematics/ Robotics/ Computing-related competitions
Please also take note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.
Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
3. Application Procedure & Timeline
Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 7 May 2024, 11am to 3 June 2024, 3pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – https://www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec
Students currently not studying in MOE schools (i.e. non-mainstream school candidates and Returning Singaporeans) are required to apply for a Registration Number before they can apply through the DSA-Sec Portal. Details can be found at: https://go.gov.sg/nmsdsa-sec-application.
All international students are to take part in and fulfil the requirements of the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) before they can be considered for admission to secondary school via DSA-Sec.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1-4.
